My Very Special Summer

Every summer I make it a point to go somewhere to enjoy the nature, air, beaches as a treat to myself for working eight hours a day, Monday to Friday, non-stop. An out of town trip to a beach is what I describe for summer, thinking and doing nothing but to enjoy sleeping, swimming, eating and drinking.
====================================================================================

2005 – I went to Cebu and Bohol. This trip is very memorable. I called this trip as “My Escape.” Cebu City is the main center of commerce, trade, and education. This is also the first province that was influenced by the Spaniards. In Bohol, we stayed at Alona Beach, hmmm I actually forgot the resort’s name c”,) Bohol is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Philippines. One can enjoy the beaches, caves, coral reefs, chocolate hills, dolphin watching, tarsiers, etc.

2006 – My first time in rainy Boracay with my boyfriend, now my husband. – After the “together again” episode, we decided to join my work friends on this trip. What we enjoyed most??? Not the beach but Lobsters and Crabs!!!!

2007 – I went to Australia during summer for a business trip. The story was, I resigned from this multinational oil firm then transferred to this software company who then sent me to Sydney to learn the job. Well, who says I cannot mix business and pleasure? Huh! More pix here.

Three months in Sydney was not enough, the season I experienced were autumn and winter (no snow) It was not my so called real summer.

When I returned, I went to Pearl Farm, Davao with my friends. Had child-like fun visiting Crocodile Farm and had gluttonous “Bulachong.”

2008 – My Anawangin and Baguio-Sagada adventure.

Anawangin: I have once had a good friend, a mountaineer-photographer who introduced this place to us. For the mountaineers, Anawangin is their home, untouched, unseen by people, a secret haven. Their meeting place to enjoy the serenity and beauty of nature. Then, the friend shared this place to the real world, showed the unknown beauty of the place. People had now access. It takes one click, then, people would know how to get there. Ask a group of friends where would they go in Zambales, and they will answer – Anawangin.

Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada: I joined to this mountaineering group for a couple of months. The group introduced me to Sagada. Two words to describe Sagada– Tranquil and Adventure. see more pics here

Baguio: A lazy day decision of going to Baguio with my work colleagues. My trip-on-a-budget. Experienced taking a shower with cold water, shopped on sale items at Manor, bar-hopped..more pics here

2009: MY VERY SPECIAL SUMMER

I have nothing more to ask for having a healthy and handsome Luis Alphonse.

No beach, no fun in the sun, no long ride, no spa, and a lot of no no’s. Pregnancy really is a big sacrifice but in the end, nothing is comparable to the joy and happiness of having a baby.

My Baby as He Grows

As what other families do, we also celebrate my baby’s monthly birthdays. My hubby and I decided to cook lasagna and make taco, while the cake was brought in “surprise” by Poncy’s godparents. Family celebrated May 6th as Poncy’s first month with us.

Wake up kiddo, it’s your day!

June 6th – Poncy’s second month was celebrated in a simple way with my family in Antipolo.

He was sad on this day. He had his first shot for diptheria, pertussis, typhoid, influenza, etc.

When he is happy, he looks like this:

Birth Story - My little Poncy

It was Saturday noon, I called my sister to go shopping. While I was taking a shower, I noticed I already have a ”show”. It only means that after waiting for long nine months, he is coming out anytime soon. I therefore cancelled my meeting with my sister and decided to wait for the contraction and notified my doctor. I was so excited but my baby at that time was so stubborn. He had me awake the whole night waiting for that contraction. The next morning, I decided I’ll take a long walk. I walked for about two hours. At home, I was busy, always busy. I always checked my bag if everything was complete and the baby’s. Sunday after noon, I felt the sudden pain. The interval was two hours for six hours. Then came an hour interval, thirty-minute interval, fifteen minutes ( I was already excited at this moment) finally, five minutes. I called my doctor that I am heading to the hospital.

Monday, April 06, 2009

2 a.m. - I was admitted at the hospital. I was 3 cm dilated. Contraction was 5 minute interval.
3 a.m. - Still 3 cm dilated. Contractions were getting stronger. I was still calm.
4 a.m. - Now 4 cm dilated. Contractions getting much stronger. So strong that I was holding the bed’s headboard bars. I was calm but I wanted to cry.
6 a.m. - My doctor arrived. I was 8 cm dilated already. Contraction was so intense. I was sedated.
7 a.m. - I had chosen epidural. My anesthesiologist administered the medicine. Then my doctor ruptured my waters as I was already 9 cm dilated.
8 a.m. - I was told to “PUSH” I took a deep breath, hold it and did 3 big push. I couldn’t feel the exact pain as they call it but I can feel the urge to push. I was pushing and pushing and pushing.
9 a.m. - Still pushing. I used every energy I stored. I prayed and prayed that my baby be safe. That I could delivery this via normal delivery. My Anesthesiologist and my baby’s pediatrician were helping me to push by literally pushing my stomach.
9:30 a.m. - My doctor told me that it was nearing two hours of labor. If I didn't cooperate by pushing she would do a Caesarian operation. Then, I kept praying and pushing and pushing. Imagine two gents helping me push, that would be four big hands on my stomach but still baby can't be seen.
9:50 a.m. - My baby’s head was more than half away. My doctor decided to use Forceps.
9:55 a.m. - My baby finally arrived. He was calm, he was tall, and after a few seconds he was letting out a big cry. I was thankful to the Lord, smiled then fell off to sleep.

Now, a new life begins, breathing on his own and beginning his new life. A baby in our lives. Meet our little “Luis Alphonse” . 6.3 lbs and 51 cm in length.

The beginning of my blog....

I thought reading blogs is fun, but in the end I still couldn’t help the urge to write when there is so much going on in life. I decided to follow my sister’s footstep and create one as well. Anyway, I am at home my baby is sleeping so I’ve got some time on my hands.

Life has been good. Work has been cool. Parenting is so much fun and exciting. A couple of months ago I gave birth to a very handsome baby. My husband and I named him Luis Alphonse. Luis is my husband’s grandfather and Alphonse is a modern name for Alfonso, my grandfather. Every moment with my baby Poncy is precious. Every second with him, every minute, every moment must be treasured.

So now, the project “blog” begins, please do visit me!
